Book us on a plane to Chicago: Tony nominee Amy Morton and her August: Osage County playwright Tracy Letts (who’s also an accomplished actor) will co-star as George and Martha in Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? at Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Directed by Pam MacKinnon (Peter and Jerry, Clybourne Park), the revival will run from December 2 to February 6, 2011.
The theme of Steppenwolf’s 35th anniversary season will be “public/private self” and includes three new plays and a revival of Lanford Wilson’s The Hot L Baltimore in addition to Virginia Woolf. (No word yet on who's playing Nick and Honey opposite Morton and Letts.)
The Steppenwolf season begins with Detroit, a new play by Lisa D’Amour (September 9-November 7), starring Kate Arrington and Robert Breuler. August: Osage County vet Sally Murphy will co-star with Stephen Louis Grush in Laura Eason’s Sex with Strangers in the Upstairs Theatre (January 20-May 15, 2011). Tina Landau will direct The Hot L Baltimore (March 24-May 29) with a cast that will include Alana Arenas, K. Todd Freeman and Yasen Peyankov. Rounding out the season will be Will Eno’s Middletown (June16-August 14), directed by Les Waters and featuring Alana Arenas.
